Alcatraz Sharkfest Swim-2015

image

It’s the day prior to our 1.5 mile swim from Alcatraz Island to Aquatic Park in San Francisco, CA.

My husband and I registered a year ago, so we’ve had time to train and to think about the swim. I will not lie, I am very scared of this swim and all the What Ifs (what if I panic, what if I get a cramp and nobody sees me, what if a shark attacks me and I can’t punch it, etc). You get me, right?

However, I am excited for this opportunity to swim with my husband, friends, and 800 other swimmers. The Escape from Alcatraz swim is a great challenge! And those close to me know I live for these moments.

Also, I will be swimming after 12 weeks of having a baby. I trained throughout my pregnancy and re-started three weeks postpartum.

I will be using my GoPro camera, a chesty positioned on my back, and a wetsuit.

Hope to come back alive to let you know how the swim went.

Have a safe swim everyone.
